Dear Beautifully Named Woman,
What’s in a name? Apparently a lot. It took me a few hundred dollars and a court hearing to get mine back. Drum Roll please…I am legally Lesley Bowling Whitehead again just like it states on my birth certificate that’s right Bowling is a family name and it has a long beautiful history of some amazing women so it’s mine again along with my Whitehead and all it’s Scottish heritage. My mom was shocked when I told her that I kept Bowling since I complained about it so much growing but I’m older and wiser now…for the most part.
When I got married 20 something years ago I happily took my husbands last name and made my middle name my maiden name. Last year I got divorced and at the time wasn’t emotionally ready to tackle this next step with all the other big changes happening so I held off.
This decision felt big because for the last 10 years I’ve been running my business as Lesley Arlasky and eventually even used it for the last few years as my business name The L.A.B. I knew it meant more changes…new business name, new logo, new look hell, new brand. It’s a complete overhaul but I realized that new is necessary for me to begin this next chapter and it’s actually a good thing, an exciting thing and it’s something to celebrate.
So today I’m celebrating being OG me again as well as looking forward to adventures in my new business…Lesley Whitehead Photography.
